Food as medicine in classical Chinese dietary therapy at my acupuncture clinic in Lewes

Chinese Dietary Therapy in Lewes

Clear, simple food guidance based on classical Chinese medicine.

Full Dietetics Consultations are coming soon.

Right now, dietary advice is available through your acupuncture sessions and through a structured intake that prepares you for the full programme when it launches.

Food can help the body heal. Not through strict rules but through small changes matched to your constitution and symptoms. Chinese dietary therapy gives you a steady way to eat that supports digestion, energy and emotional balance.

What Chinese Dietary Therapy Does for You

People come to Chinese dietetics in Lewes to support:

  • digestion

  • energy

  • appetite

  • mood

  • hormonal balance

  • recovery after stress or illness

You do not need a clear diagnosis. We start with how you feel today and build from there.

How Chinese Dietary Therapy Works

Chinese medicine looks at food in terms of nature and effect. Each food has qualities. It may be warming or cooling, heavy or light, drying or moistening.

Together we look at your condition and adjust your food choices in a simple, grounded way. This may include:

  • easing foods that create dampness

  • using warming spices if you often feel cold

  • using cooked foods to support Spleen Qi

  • eating in a calmer rhythm to steady digestion and mood

The aim is balance, not restriction.

Your First Step: The Initial Consultation

Because the full service is not yet open, all diet work begins with an Initial Chinese Medicine Consultation. This includes:

  • a full diagnosis

  • your constitutional pattern

  • your current symptoms

  • your first dietary recommendations

  • guidance for the next week or two

  • preparation for the full dietetics programme

If you want to go deeper later you will already have the groundwork in place.

Three Day Diet Diary (Collected in the Initial Consult)

During the first session you will be asked to complete a simple three day diet diary covering:

  • meals

  • digestion

  • energy

  • sleep

  • mood

  • key symptoms

This gives a clear picture of how your current food choices affect your condition.

You do this after the initial consult, not before. This keeps the process simple and avoids confusion.

Why the AE Drain Comes First

Before any diet or lifestyle advice can take root your system needs to settle.
This is why I often begin treatment with an AE Drain (Aggressive Energy Drain).

The AE Drain clears excess heat or pressure from the channels and allows the body to receive treatment more deeply. In my clinic this step has made the difference between short term relief and lasting change.

It is part of your first session when clinically appropriate.

Why Dietetics Works Well With Acupuncture

Acupuncture resets the system. Diet supports those changes between sessions. Together they help stabilise:

  • digestion

  • energy

  • appetite

  • mood

  • hormonal balance

  • recovery after illness

Small changes to food often amplify the effect of treatment.
