Acupuncture for Long COVID and Post-Viral Fatigue in Lewes

Long COVID and post-viral fatigue often impair the body’s internal regulation and repair cycles. You may not feel acutely unwell, but you also do not feel well as though the illness has not quite resolved. Energy may stay low despite rest, digestion may remain unpredictable, sleep may no longer bring recovery and the mind can feel slow or foggy; even mild exertion may trigger a wave of symptoms that takes days to clear. These patterns can be hard to explain, but their impact is often significant and recovery may feel stalled.

Acupuncture offers a structured way to support your system without forcing it. Treatment is quiet, responsive and grounded in what your body is showing, according to how you present as an individual.

A Classical Chinese Medicine View

In classical Chinese medicine, illness does not simply affect one part of the body, it may leaves traces of imbalance that weaken, obstruct, or dysregulate the flow of function through your systems as a whole.

The Lung may remain weakened after viral infection, making breathing shallow or constrained, or increasing vulnerability to further illness. The Spleen may lose its ability to transform food into energy efficiently, leaving digestion fragile and stamina reduced. When the Heart and Kidneys are affected, there may be insomnia, poor memory, anxiety, or a sense of inner disconnection that is hard to name.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, Chinese medicine works by identifying which systems are under strain and supporting their return to “normal” function. It is not about suppressing symptoms or correcting behaviour, but about restoring the inner organisation that health depends on.

How Acupuncture Can Help

Treatment is led by how your system presents not a protocol, but a strategy. Sessions are one-to-one and quiet, based on what can be seen and felt in the pulse, seen on the tongue, the voice tone and your overall state.

Acupuncture may help:

  • Rebuild energy and stamina without drawing on depleted reserves

  • Settle the nervous system so it is less reactive and more stable

  • Support digestion and appetite where function has weakened (see more on digestive health)

  • Improve sleep so that rest leads to recovery (see more on insomnia)

  • Strengthen the breath where it has become shallow or constrained

For some people, the focus is on physical restoration. For others, it may be to reduce internal agitation, support clearer thinking, ease digestive strain, or allow the system to reset after months of disruption.

Treatment can also address wider concerns of stress, anxiety, sleep disturbance, digestive imbalance, especially when they are part of the post-viral picture.

A Structured, Steady Approach

Treatment takes place in my Lewes clinic, just off the town centre. The space is quiet, private, and held with care. Needles are placed gently, with explanation, and the pace of progress is led by your system’s capacity, not by external expectation.

Many patients describe an increased sense of inner quiet after treatment. This is often a sign that the nervous system has begun to settle and that the body is starting to regain its sense of balance.
