About Esaias Hobbs | Acupuncturist in Lewes
I have been practising Chinese medicine for over 24 years and am a fully licensed acupuncturist based in Lewes. My work combines acupuncture, Chinese medical assessment, dietary guidance, therapeutic massage and Qigong-based self-care to support steady, individualised treatment.

Training and Qualifications
My formal training began with a Licentiate in Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, followed by extensive postgraduate study in Classical Chinese Medicine.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and continue to study the classical principles, diagnostic methods and treatment strategies that inform traditional Chinese medical practice.
My clinical foundation is strongly influenced by the teachings of Jeffrey Yuen’s lineage. This study has shaped my understanding of acupuncture, diagnosis, treatment strategy and the wider classical medical philosophy that underpins long-term care.
Over 24 Years’ Clinical Experience
Over the past 24 years, I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of ongoing health concerns, including pain, stress-related symptoms, hormonal changes, fatigue, post-viral illness and chronic health patterns.
My approach is pattern-led rather than symptom-led. Treatment is shaped by careful observation of how your system is functioning as a whole, including physical presentation, emotional state, lifestyle, medical history and the way symptoms connect.
This allows treatment to be tailored to the individual, rather than applied as a generic protocol.
Philosophy of Practice
My work is grounded, precise and unhurried.
Chinese medicine is not about instant fixes. It is about understanding how the body responds to change and working with its natural rhythms over time.
Effective treatment depends on accuracy, consistency and attention to the whole person.
I apply classical Chinese medical principles in a practical and accessible way, whether someone is dealing with pain, hormonal shifts, emotional pressure, digestive disturbance, fatigue or long-standing patterns of ill health.
Treatment focuses on root patterns, not quick cures.
What Treatment Is Like
Treatment begins with careful listening and Chinese medical assessment. Depending on your needs, this may include pulse and tongue diagnosis, discussion of symptoms, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, stress, energy and emotional state.
Treatment may involve acupuncture, dietary advice, Chinese medical massage, Qigong-based self-care or simple lifestyle recommendations. The aim is to support regulation, reduce strain and help the body move towards clearer function.
Continuing Study and Mentorship
Chinese medicine is a lifelong practice.
Alongside clinical work, I continue advanced study and mentorship in Classical Chinese Medicine. This ensures that my practice remains both technically rigorous and faithful to the traditional principles that have guided effective treatment for centuries.
Clinic Location
I practise from a calm private treatment space in central Lewes, East Sussex, at The Old Police Station.
